Caribbean Cruises

The Caribbean is a beautiful blue melting pot filled with the customs, colors and traditions of French, British, Dutch and Spanish nationalities. A cruise is a wonderful way to visit and experience many different islands all in one trip.
Spend days exploring tropical islands, sunbathing on white sand beaches, snorkeling in crystal clear water, windsurfing, shopping at local craft markets, playing golf, swimming with dolphins or ziplining through the jungle canopy. Back on the ship, nights are filled with dancing, dining, Vegas-style shows or spinning the roulette wheel in world-class casinos. Other on-board activities range from spas, fitness centers and shopping to lounging by the pool and participating in group sports and activities.

Several cruise lines travel to the Caribbean year round, including Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney and Celebrity Cruises. Ships leave out of major cities such as Baltimore, New Orleans, Galveston, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Miami. Cruise trips can be booked for weekend getaways, week-long vacations or 20-night excursions through many islands.

A cruise trip usually focuses on a specific section of the Caribbean on each journey. Cruises can be booked for voyage through western, eastern or southern Caribbean islands. Ports of call in the eastern Caribbean include Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The western Caribbean offers Cozumel, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica while the southern section sways towards Aruba, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis. The exotic locales of Costa Rica and Panama in the southwest are also available and make for an adventurous and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Even though Bermuda is not technically in the Caribbean Sea, it is often included in cruise itineraries. The pink sand beaches, pastel houses and pristine golf greens are just too enticing to pass up. Easily accessible from East Coast cities such as Boston, Baltimore and Norfolk, Bermuda is a quick cruise out into the Atlantic Ocean. Since it is such a close destination, ships often stay in port longer, which allows cruisers even more time to enjoy everything the quasi-Caribbean island has to offer.

More than 5,000 islands and cays are scattered throughout the Caribbean so the choice of destination is really as endless as the blue sky and turquoise sea. Whether it’s the surfing, mountains and music of Puerto Rico, the cacti, ostriches, and Dutch décor of Aruba or the volcanic formations, waterfalls, rainforests and jaguars of Costa Rica, there is something for everyone on a Caribbean cruise.
